Terms
The basic terms of roleplaying are something you should carry with you when you roleplay.
IC- In Character
OOC- Out of Character
BIC- Back in Character
Powerplaying- taking control of someone else's character.
Godmodding- Making your character unbreakable, and always able to save the day, as if they were a god.
Necro- short for necromancer, somebody who sees and can bring back the dead.
AU- Alternate Universe
PBP- Play-by-post
Playby- Who the person in the character's picture really is, (EX. Selena Gomez)
Alias- Who plays the character (EX. Cloudy)
Tips
Here are some tips to be a better roleplayer, have more muse, and extend your posts.
1. Don't hang over something sad- if something sad happens to you in real life, or if your character gets heartbroken, don't mope. If something really bad happened in your life, just say, 'I'm a bit sad, so I'm slightly lower on muse.' People will have your back and try to make you happy. We are not a bullying community.
2. Use spellcheck- Spellcheck your posts to make sure you aren't breaking the rules of semi-literacy. If you don't make spelling errors, people won't get angry. People aren't angry, and you don't feel yelled at.
3. Are you a hopeless romantic? Stuck in the rut of love stories over and over?- Try reshaping your character. Have something happen to him/her that changes their point of view. The more interest and backstory you put into a character, the more people become focused on them. Have your character be reshaped into a fighter, and then have fun with a new love story, the new point of view of your character changing who he/she likes, or who he/she trusts.
4. Use words nobody understands- I know this one sounds unofficial, but everybody does this. If you use longer words, that gives off that you are extending your posts. Try using different words. Turn 'He laughed loudly.' into 'The boy chuckled at a high volume, his laugh echoing through the halls.' That makes a possibility of a new topic. The more topics, the merrier.
5. Stuck on a crappy phone keyboard and a mobile site?- Either click desktop view, or get on a computer. This site is made for the computer view, as you can tell by the nice sidebar, fonts, and banner. Proboards mobile is simple and plain, but it will still work.
